As a bit of a wrinkle, we’re not having posts this year! Going to be similar to Beerfoot, but with 5-point and 7-point zones instead. Park won’t let us dig holes, so giving this a shot.

We will also be hosting USA South vs. Cayman Islands in an international 15s friendly at 5 p.m.

Level 1 and 2 Sevens Referees Course

World Rugby have developed a new referee course with a concentration on 7s. Jeremy Brown has worked very hard to ensure that Florida is the first referees’ society in the USA to offer the training.

Level 1 – Saturday May 7th – Sebastian River High School – you must register with USA Rugby prior to the course –

Level 2 – Sunday June 19th – Sebastian River High School – – you must register with USA Rugby prior to the course –

For existing referees who wish to be involved in 7s tournaments throughout the summer, this is an excellent opportunity to transition from a 15s mindset to that needed for 7s.
Level 1 also includes an AR certification course. Remember, just because you are a referee, you are not automatically certified as an AR.
Accreditation for Level 2 will be based on showing competence across basic 7s skills as well as mandatory participation in at least one tournament between the classes to enable coaching and feedback.
Please seriously consider enrolling for this course and treat it like continuing education – we should never stop trying to make ourselves better referees!
If anyone knows of someone who is thinking about becoming certified as a referee, then this is the perfect opportunity. Successful completion of both L1 and L2 courses will automatically qualify the student for the L1 15s certification – (there will be a free transition course before the start of the 15s season).
